Elephants

I Want To Learn About:

African Elephant

While two subspecies are generally acknowledged (the larger Savannah Elephant and the smaller Forest Elephant), the record books recognize them as one because their distribution overlaps. It is estimated that there are about 750,000 elephants in Africa with populations increasing only where game managed and sport hunted (primarily Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe).
