Most of Asia opened to Western hunters in the 1980s and 1990s, so the largest of all continents is filled with magnificent hunting opportunities for adventurers of all budgets. Closed to hunting are Afghanistan, India (one of the great hunting countries of all time), Iraq and similar dangerous or war-racked countries. Iran is open again, so its species are included herein even though U.S. hunters may not import trophies from Iran.

Species that are not currently huntable in Asia due to hunting being closed where they live or due to the species being endangered or not on license or not importable into the United States are: Four-Horned Antelope, Nilgai Antelope, Arabian Oryx, Blackbuck Antelope, Mongolian Saiga Antelope, Tibetan Antelope, Asian Black Bear, Giant Panda, Himilayan Brown Bear, Polar Bear, Sloth Bear, Sun Bear, Tibetan Brown Bear, Indian Gaur, Indo-Chinese Gaur, Malayan Gaur, Gayal, Indo-Chinese Banteng, Kouprey, Javan Banteng, Borneo Banteng, Yak, Water Buffalo, Tamaraw, Lowland Anoa, Mountain Anoa, Tiger (all-subspecies), Lion, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Clouded Leopard, Cheetah, Bukharan Deer, Yarkand Deer, Hangal, Tibetan Deer, Shou, McNeill Deer, Swamp Barasingha, Hard-Ground Barasingha, Eld's Deer, Manipur Brow-Antlered Deer, Burmese Brow-Antlered Deer, Thai Brow-Antlered Deer, Schomburgh Deer, Sika Deer (all 15 sub-species), Sambar Deer (all 7 sub-species, although China is now testing a sport hunting program), Visayan Deer, Rusa Deer (all 6 sub-species), Axis Deer, Hog Deer (both sub-species), Kuhl Deer, Calamian Deer, Persian Fallow Deer, Pere David Deer (although China is breeding a herd from re-imported stock that is now up to several hundred animals), Fea Muntjac, Reeves Muntjac, Borneo Yellow Muntjac, Tufted Deer (all 3 sub-species), Chinese Water Deer (although China is now testing a sport hunting program), Musk Deer (all 3 sub-species), Asian Elephant, Dorcas Gazelle, Eritrean Gazelle, Mountain Gazelle, Palestine Gazelle, Common Arabian Gazelle, Farasan Islands Gazelle, Muscat Gazelle, Queen of Sheba Gazelle, Saudi Gazelle, Arabian Goitered Gazelle, Yarkand Goitered Gazelle, Asian Striped Hyena, Babirusa, Bearded Pig, Pygmy Hog, Warty Pig (all 4 sub-species), Serow (all 8 sub-species), Goral (all 3 sub-species), Nilgiri Tahr, Arabian Tahr, Indian and Javan and Sumatran Rhinoceros, Caprian Mouflon Sheep, Konya Mouflon Sheep, Ladakh Urial Sheep, Tibetan Argali, Kara Tan Argali, Mishmi Takin, Atlantic and Pacific Walrus, and Wolverine. That is quite a list, but there are still enough species available to keep even an avid hunter busy for decades.

Currently, there are no introduced species to Asia recognized by the record books. There are enough species to hunt already! Unlike Africa, many Asian hunts are for only one or two species at a time, since time-consuming travel, often in third-world conditions, is required to reach prime hunting venues for individual species.
