North American Native Caribou

I Want To Learn About:

Arctic Islands Caribou
Alaska-Yukon Barren Ground Caribou
Central Canada Barren Ground Caribou
Mountain Caribou
Quebec-Labrador Caribou
Woodland Caribou

Generally, the largest antlers are produced by the Barren Ground, Mountain, and Quebec-Labrador. Woodland have the smallest antlers, Arctic Island have the smallest bodies, and Mountain have the largest bodies. Most hunters start with the Central Canada Barren Ground or Quebec-Labrador because they can be found in herds and are generally hunted with 6-8 hunters in a camp. Barren Ground are popular add-ons to mixed bag hunts. Mountain Caribou are sometimes the most difficult to hunt. Woodland Caribou can be combined with Eastern Canada Moose and allow for the most economical pairing of these two species by far. The Arctic Island sub-species can be combined with Greenland Muskox and is the least often hunted, but in the most challenging weather.
