July thru December.
- Hunt Description
-
The Masailand consists of the Masai Steppes and continues into the central province. The area is
primarily savannah and thorn thicket with a few rocky outcrops. It is known for its good leopard,
Fringe-eared Oryx, Greater and Lesser Kudu, Coke's Hartebeest, Grants and Thompson's gazelle,
Gerenuk, and East African Impala. Masailand is hunted the full season from July 1st to
December 31st.
Masailand can also be excellent for lion and buffalo. The only problem in this area is that it is
very dependent on weather conditions and the animals moving out of the parks. In this respect, it
is best to hunt either early in the season (July), or late in the season (December). Most of the
hunts that we take here are collection safaris for the plains game species, and are added on to
our client's safari in another area. In this case, we purchase either a 10 or 21 day license
separately for this part of the client's hunt. Lesser Kudu, Oryx, and Gerenuk all require a 21
day license.
At the beginning of each safari, your Professional Hunter will sit down
with you and your party. He will discuss your expectations, safety in the bush, and how
the safari will be conducted. As this will be the experience of a lifetime, we want to be
sure that everyone is comfortable.
Your hunting day begins early. The staff will prepare a breakfast of your
choice and then load all of your gear on the truck. All of our concessions are over 1200
square kilometers so you will have plenty of country to explore. While we have roads that
skeleton the area, you will spend much time off road checking new country.
Depending on your travel we may return to camp for lunch, but usually the camp staff will have
prepared a variety of freshly cooked meats, pasta, rice, breads, fruits, and vegetables, that
will be packed in a lunch box.
Along the way each day we will also be looking for a variety of plains game to add to your
license and your experience. You will be greeted each afternoon by our camp staff as you
arrive. They will carry your gear to your tent, prepare your shower, and get you a sundowner
of your choice to enjoy at the camp fire. Dinner will cap your day and be certain not to
disappoint you!

- Camp & Accommodations
-
Camps in Tanzania are luxury tented camps built in the traditional East African style.
These large tents are insect proof and have ensuite bathrooms with verandas where you
can have a welcoming "sundowner" after a long day of hunting. Camps are fully equipped
with fridges, freezers, lighting, and an experienced staff to make your safari as
comfortable as possible. Daily communication is maintained with the Arusha office, and
in case of the slightest emergency, a flying doctor service is made available to provide
first-rate medical attention. Upon request, a satellite phone is also available.
Fine dining is included in your safari, and the cooks cater to all tastes, using fresh
and canned foods to provide gourmet meals to the highest of standards. Laundry is also
done daily, and clothes put out in the evening are usually ready the next day.
Each professional hunter has a modern 4X4 vehicle, complete with trackers and personal
gun bearers. As all of our PH's are raised in East Africa, they have an intimate
knowledge of the game and people, ensuring the success of your safari.

of solids and 60 rounds of soft points (Trophy bonded or Barnes X) for your heavy rifle.
Our recommendation is that clients bring a scoped .375 or .416, as a heavy rifle, and a
7mm or .300 for hunting plains game. It is important to bring a rifle that you are
comfortable shooting. Company rifles may also be hired at $150 per week, ammunition will
be charged at cost in Tanzania.
