Tokhty, Zaisan and Taldy Khurgan are considered to be the areas with best Maral (also known as the Tian
Shan Wapiti) trophies in all Asia. In fact, two years ago, the new world record was taken there,
which exceeded 18 kilos. Regular trophies are up to 10 kilos, but in this area a Maral up to 13-14
kilos can be guaranteed.
The hunt is conducted on horseback or on foot stalking for the Maral in roar. Considering that the
ground is rather hilly you must be in good physical condition to be able to do this kind of hunt.
In the same area there is a large population of Mid-Asian Ibex that can be hunted either combined with
the Maral or as a separate program.
