- Hunt Description
-
These Mountain Caribou are called the "Torngat Mountain Caribou", also occasionally called
the "Koroc" herd. The Koroc river is the main river that slices through the Torngat
Mountains. The Torngat are also the highest continental mountains east of the Rockies.
Our northern Quebec region has the densest caribou population in North America, nearly
a million animals roaming a sub-arctic glacier carved tundra, landscape that is larger
than Texas. Your chance of seeing caribou within shooting range are better than
90 percent. In addition, the Quebec's caribou herds are also the easiest for most
hunters to access. Their range is directly north of the United States and can
be reached by flight from Montreal to Kuujjuaq.
To find your trophy bull, you'll spend each day hiking high land, glassing for caribou
on the move. Despite the openness of the country, caribou blend in and are
surprisingly difficult to spot.
In addition to caribou hunting, you can hunt black bear, ptarmigan and fish for lake trout or arctic char at
no extra cost.
Barnoin River is located in the heart of the best funneling migration route of the Torngat Mountains
caribou herd. Hunt caribou and black bear with experienced guides and hunting outfitters who live in the area for
over 25 years and operate camps since 1990.
Our floatplane is permanently base at camp. Most of the time, we hunt from the main lodge but when required we
are always ready to pitch up a spike camp to more productive areas.
