Hunt Description
If you are looking for the ultimate tented camp hunting safari in the Kalahari desert then this hunt is for you. Hunting is done in an nine million acre concession in the remote desert area of the Namib Desert in the Kunene Region of Namibia, between the Skelton Coast and Etosha National Park.

The Anabeb-Sesfontein-Omatendeka Areas are a conservancy that our outfitter has the privilege of being awarded a seven year contract. This tender was granted by a NGO assisted by WWF. The majority of the monetary proceeds as well as all the meat are for the benefit of the local population. This programme has primarily been initiated to train and provide sustainable management skills for the people to become self sufficient by managing their own wildlife resources.

We hunt Leopards over bait, and Lions both over bait and spot and stalk.

Namibia is renowned for certain species. These would be Kudu, Eland, Springbok, Steenbok, Gemsbok, Blue Wildebeest, Red Hartebeest and Warthog. Black Wildebeest and Blesbok did not occur here naturally 100 years ago but have been introduced successfully and for some reason have marvelous horn growth. Damara Dik Dik and Hartman Zebra only occur in Namibia so we highly recommend that you consider these two species.

SCI has just registered another Gemsbok specie for Namibia in the Record book. It is called the Namibian Gemsbok and can only be taken in the North of Namibia. It is basically the same as the Angolan animal. The horns are shorter than the Kalahari species, so the minimums to get into the Record book are a lot less.

The best way to hunt here is what we call spot and stalk. We get onto a vehicle and drive until we see the animals. If we see an animal that looks like a trophy we drive past and after checking the wind we get off the vehicle and stalk. Your PH (Professional Hunter) carries a tripod which he sets up for you. Our PH does not carry a rifle unless the hunter wants him to or we are hunting dangerous game.

A normal hunting day is from sunup to about 11:30am. We then have brunch. We hunt again from 2:30pm until sundown.

Approximate Trip Schedule

Hunting Days

Hunt for as many days as you like.

Final Day

Camp & Accommodations
Accommodations are in a luxury tented camp, similar to the old way Africa was hunted. Water for your shower is heated by fire. Boilers are lit in the afternoon so that you can enjoy a piping hot shower in the evening when we return from the bush.
Getting There
The arrival airport is Windhoek International Airport and is about a two hour flight from Johannesburg in South Africa. Firearm permits are issued at the port of entry. You are allowed a maximum of 60 rounds of ammunition.

A preferred alternative is flying into Walvis Bay airport. This cuts the driving time to the concession in half, and is a beautiful drive along the seacoast.
