Cabela's Uninsulated Kangaroo Upland Bird Boots
I recently found myself in need of a new pair for a pheasant hunt in Kansas. I was tired of traditional heavy hunting boots so was intrigued when I read about boots made from Australian kangaroo leather, which is lighter but stronger than cowhide of equal thickness, plus it's inherently water-resistant. Average weight for these boots is 2.4 pounds.
Of course the proof was in the hunt. With zero breakin time I hunted two hard days with miles and miles of hiking. So many in fact that blisters appeared on a number of other hunters feet, even though their boots were well broken in.
No blisters for me! And it was great to not have my legs fatigued from heavy boots.
I bought the boots one-half size larger than my regular shoe size, and matched them up with a pair of Cabela's Wool Boot Socks, which stayed up on my calf all day and perfectly took up the extra half-size.
You can bet I'll be looking onto more Australian kangaroo leather products.
