John Macomber Medium Size Semi-Skinner Knife
I've owned many knives over the years. Mostly store bought, but also a few custom ones. The one thing all of them have had in common is they end up spending their life in a drawer or on a shelf in my closet.
Not this one. The perfect size for my needs. What I call a camp knife, one that is small enough to keep on my belt, but large enough to handle the typical "camp chores" I often need a knife for. It could even be used for some skinning in a pinch.
This is a medium size semi-skinner full tang blade knife. The steel is ATS-34, a stain resistant tool steel. The blade is ground all the way to the back. The tang is tapered for balance and looks. The guard is pinned and silver soldered to the blade, prevents blood, etc. from getting behind the handle and corroding it. The handle scales are burled ironwood, very hard, very dense, and nice grain. Ironwood is so dense that it requires no finish on the wood, this is its natural finish after buffing it. And this knife is super-sharp.
All in all excellent craftsmanship. You can see the attention to detail and labor of love that goes into John's knives.
