New From Leica: The Next Generation GEOVID BRF Rangefinder Binoculars

Ten years ago, Leica astounded the hunting public with a product that incorporated a superior laser rangefinder within a top performance pair of 7X42 binoculars. The first Geovid provided hunters with both top quality optics and pinpoint yardage measurement capabilities in the same unit.

In 2004, Leica is introducing the next generation of Geovids with two new models, the GEOVID 8X42 BRF and GEOVID 10X42 BRF. Like the original Geovids, the two new models combine the latest in range finding technology into a state of the art binocular unit that is as compact as a pair of regular binoculars.

The new LEICA GEOVID BRF binoculars are both true, full-function roof prism binoculars using the same famous glass and prism construction found in other Leica binoculars. Each Geovid BRF features a center focus knob with a center hinge. They are waterproof to 16.4 feet and fog proof. Weighing just under 32 ounces, these new GEOVIDS are perfect for any hunting situation.

Leica has set the standard in laser rangefinders by which all others are compared. This leading technology is integrated in the new LEICA GEOVID BRF products. A yardage version is being produced for the United States market and has range finding capabilities to 1300 yards. Like other Leica rangefinders, the Geovids are fast reading with a small laser beam divergence that gives accurate readings on a variety of targets. The high visibility LED display of the new Geovids automatically adjusts its' intensity according to light conditions, making it easy to read in everything from low light to bright sunshine. One button on the binocular operates the LRF rangefinder. Pressing the button once activates the unit; pressing the button the second time gives the user the measurement. The Geovid BRF also has a scan mode that is activated by holding the button down the second time.

The robust housing of the new LEICA GEOVIDS is made of aluminum and coated with soft-touch rubber armor. In addition to protecting the housing, the armor coating makes it easier to grip and hold the Geovid BRF. Leica HDC® coating protects the outer lens surfaces against the environment.

Leica has also incorporated a perfect ergonomic design to make the new GEOVID BRF easy to use, even when wearing gloves. Like other Leica binoculars, the new GEOVID BRF is perfectly balanced for fatigue-free viewing. The GEOVID BRF comes with adjustable eyecups that ensure perfect eye relief even for those who wear glasses.

The new LEICA GEOVID BRF binoculars are a fitting heir to the original Leica Geovid. They will certainly be the new benchmark in laser range finding performance.

Suggested retail price for the GEOVID 8X42 BRF is $1,800.00. The GEOVID 10X42 BRF suggested retail price is $1,850.00.
