Weatherby Mark V® CFP Now Comes With Talley Rings, Bases

Weatherby's Mark V® Compact Firing Platform (CFP) now comes complete with a set of Talley rings and bases specially designed for the short, low-profile, long eye relief scopes commonly used for hunting with the CFP.

Made of 7000 Series billet alloy, the Talley ring and base unit features a one-piece design providing a lightweight yet rock-solid mounting system. With each ring and base combination CNC-machined from a single metal block, the possibility of an out-of-alignment interface or loose connection between the ring and base is eliminated. This results in superior strength and durability but with less overall weight than comparable steel mounts because of the lightweight alloy.

"Finding mounts to fit guns like the CFP can be difficult," said Brad Ruddell, Weatherby's vice president of sales and marketing. "The inclusion of the Talley system eliminates this inconvenience and assures that the customer gets a mount specifically designed for the CFP. In short, it makes the CFP an even better value."

Chambered for rounds suitable for varmint and big game hunting, the CFP offers the features and proven performance of Weatherby's Mark V action for standard calibers, in a package that measures only 27 1/2 inches long and weighs just 5 1/4 pounds.

The CFP is pillar-bedded in a specially-designed Fibermark® composite stock. Predetermined bedding points add to the consistent, repeatable accuracy of the firearm. Black spiderwebbing on the tan stock helps provide a sure grip as well as a distinctive look. An ambidextrous grip design accommodates right- or left-handed shooters. (Bolt setup is on the right-hand side.) The grip area is preformed to match the natural shape of the hand for a sure, comfortable feel.

Another accuracy-enhancing feature is the button-rifled, #2 contour, 16-inch chrome moly (4140 steel) barrel, which has a custom target crown. All metalwork is bead blasted to a matte blue to reduce game-spooking glare.

The Mark V CFP is available in .223 Remington, .22-250 Remington, .243 Winchester and 7mm-08 Remington. Magazine capacity is 5+1.

Manufacturer's suggested retail price is $1,579. Like all Mark V firearms, the CFP comes with an accuracy guarantee of a 1 1/2-inch, 3-shot group from a cold barrel at 100 yards when used with premium ammunition.
